Never work underneath a vehicle that is supported only by a floor jack. Always use properly rated jack stands on solid, level ground and use wheel chocks when needed. A vehicle can be repaired or replaced—you cannot replace a life.
Protect yourself before you start the repair. Wear safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, proper clothing, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required. Keep your hands, clothing, hair, tools, and equipment away from moving belts, fans, pulleys, hot exhaust components, and other hazards.
Automotive fluids, batteries, fuel systems, A/C refrigerant, electrical circuits, hybrid/EV high-voltage systems, hot engines, and pressurized cooling systems can all be dangerous. Never guess when safety is involved. If you do not understand the system, stop and learn the correct procedure before continuing.
